Wedmore men won both rinks in the Club Two Fours National Competition: with a decisive 57 to 31 shot victory against visitors Portishead. Rink scores were: A. Birch, K. Burt, R. Barron, D. Nicholls 31-14, D. Collins, R. Newell, C. Moss, E. Payne 26-17. Wedmore will now play either Castle Cary or Somerton in the next round.
Wedmore men hosted a friendly against Bridgewater Durleigh and had a successful afternoon winning four out of five rinks. The best result of the afternoon came from David Wederell and his team who won their rink 22-14.
The week ended with the annual Club Open Day on Sunday which was held in beautiful weather. The objective of the day was to attract potential new bowlers to try bowling for the first time, and to show our excellent facilities indoor and outdoor to bowlers new to the area. The morning proved to be quiet but the afternoon was busier and the club has now to follow up with a sizeable list of potential bowlers/members. Club members strongly supported the event and informal roll-up games were held throughout the day. Teas, cakes and bacon rolls provided by the catering team added to the enjoyment of the day!
