The Queen’s 90th Birthday – celebrated in style and featured on local radio!
The highlight of the past week was a visit by BBC Radio Somerset on the 21st and broadcast host Claire Carter who transmitted her morning show from the club!
In a programme featuring local celebrations of the Queen’s birthday she gave prominent coverage of our club and the wonderful facilities we enjoy. We were able to promote our Open Day on the 8th of May and invite her listeners to attend and try the wonderful sport of bowls!
Tea , scones and cakes were served to the members after a special match between the Royals and the Nobles. Our Ladies Captain of last year, Gill Harvey is seen in the above photo ensuring that everyone was fully supplied!!
Our new outdoor season got underway with both the men and the ladies playing friendly matches against Wells, both were close games but Wells won both of them by a small margin! The best ladies rink, and the only one of the three to win was led by Liz Hamblin whilst Roger Hughes had the best result in the men’s game.
